Iridology

Iridology is used as an observational wellness tool to help identify potential genetic tendencies, areas of stress, and patterns that may reflect how the body has been responding to your daily habits over the years.

These observations are used educationally to support lifestyle awareness and help guide foundational support strategies.

Iridology does not diagnose, treat, or cure disease. It is used as a supportive educational tool to better understand patterns of imbalance, stress, and constitutional tendencies within the body.

Available as a follow-up only.

A Brief History of Iridology

Iridology has been practiced in its modern form for more than a century, although the understanding that the eyes reflect aspects of health has been discussed for much longer. Throughout history, various cultures, including those of ancient Egypt, Greece, and China, are believed to have observed changes in the eyes as part of their overall health assessments.

The observations by these civilizations contributed to a longstanding interest in the relationship between the eyes and the body.

The first known written work resembling modern iridology appeared in 1670 when Philippus Meyens described markings in the iris. The field later developed significantly in the 1800s through the work of Ignatz von Péczely, who is widely regarded as the founder of modern iridology and created one of the first iris charts. Around the same time, Nils Liljequist independently expanded the field through his own observations, leading to further development of iris mapping.

During the 20th century, iridology spread throughout Europe, Australia, and North America, becoming incorporated into many naturopathic traditions. Today, it continues to be taught in schools of naturopathy and complementary health, where it is used by some practitioners as an observational assessment tool alongside a person's health history and lifestyle evaluation.

What does an iridology appointment look like?

Virtual Appointment Iridology appointments are held virtually in a calm, educational setting focused on helping you better understand your body and lifestyle patterns. Photos Submitted Beforehand Clear iris photos must be submitted before the appointment so they can be reviewed in advance. Instructions for lighting, positioning, and image quality will be provided after booking to help ensure the clearest possible images. Timing of the Appointment Iridology appointments are approximately 60 minutes in duration, and are recommended at least one month after the initial consultation. This gives the body time to begin responding to the lifestyle plan and allows patterns, stress responses, and lifestyle habits to be viewed within a broader context. What the Session Focuses On The session focuses on identifying potential genetic tendencies, constitutional strengths, areas of stress, and how the body may be responding to lifestyle patterns over time. The appointment is educational in nature and designed to help connect the dots between lifestyle habits and overall body function. Lifestyle-Based Guidance The information discussed is used to help guide supportive lifestyle habits related to hydration, nutrition, stress support, sleep, circadian rhythm, movement, and other foundational areas of health. Personalized Discussion Clients have the opportunity to ask questions, discuss current lifestyle habits, and better understand how different systems of the body may be connected. Educational, Not Diagnostic Iridology does not diagnose, treat, or cure disease. It is used as an educational observational tool intended to support lifestyle awareness and whole-body wellness.
